Our Story
City Peanut is rooted in downtown Boise and built on a simple idea: handcrafted food brings people together.
Since its founding, City Peanut has been known for small-batch, artisan roasted peanuts and tree nuts, nut brittles, flavored popcorns, fresh-ground nut butters, and thoughtfully curated local pairings with craft beers, ciders, and wines. From the beginning, the mission has been to create products that feel nostalgic yet completely original: bold flavors made with real ingredients and real care.
That legacy continues today.
In October of 2025, local David McGuinn became the new owner of City Peanut, stepping in to continue growing the brand in new and flavorful ways.
A longtime member of the local community, David was drawn to City Peanut because of what it represents: craftsmanship, creativity, and connection. The shop has always been more than just a place to buy nuts, it’s been a place that reflects Boise’s personality: Independent. Adventurous. Unpretentious. A little unexpected.
Under David’s leadership, City Peanut is entering its next chapter, and our commitment remains the same:

And the City Peanut vision is expanding.
City Peanut will continue honoring the classic nut shop tradition that helped establish its reputation, while pushing into new territory through deeper partnerships with local makers, breweries, restaurants, and food innovators. New products, new collaborations, and new experiences are on the horizon all while staying true to the bold, flavor-first identity that made City Peanut what it is today.
You’ll still find our products featured in Boise’s favorite restaurants, pubs, wineries, and specialty retailers, while always crafted right here in Idaho.
